A Sad Sad Story with a Happy Ending

We would like to share with our readers a real life story we found on the net about a dog named Dolly. It's sad how Dolly was abandoned, heartwrenching to know how Dolly's been hurt emotionally (yes we strongly believe dogs can feel) but yet still had that faith in her previous owners and held onto that faith for three long years...read on to find out how the story ends or rather how Dolly's new life chapter is beginning =)

Won’t you like to come home to this?

Stumbled upon this moving clip on youtube. It’s an old clip but still getting lots of hits nowadays, and we loved to shared it with you all, and taking the opportunity to feature what Andy (that’s the owner of the excitable and animated Gracie you’ll see in the clip) post with regards to the video

FINAL FINAL UPDATE (11-16-2009) -- I forgot to say this earlier, but if you ever want to get a dog, go to the pound. Pound dogs will always appreciate what you did for them. Save a life, adopt a mutt. Mixed breeds rule (Gracie is half Corgi, and a bunch of others, I'm sure). Gracie was on doggie death row -- she had been there for four months -- when we got her. She was days away, and she's been the best dog and a vital part of our family for the past five years. It's funny that a little dog that was found abandoned in a pen in West Virginia, completely neglected, could put a smile on so many faces

Sammy The Taiko - Up for Adoption

Hello, I'm Sammy the Taiko, a charming and charismatic Mini Pinscher!

I'm a bundle of joy to have in the household - energetic & quick-witted, and I never fail to crack people up with my silly dilly actions.

I LOVE food (I can eat a lot although I am tiny!), and I'm affectionate when I get to know you well.

Against all odds

A deformed puppy rescued from a garbage bag has finally learnt to walk.

Little Harper was saved from a certain death when a woman in Sanford, Florida, saw a man selling pit-bull puppies outside a Save-A-Lot holding a squirming trash bag.

When she asked him what was in the bag he at first refused to show her but he finally handed over the bag containing a puppy so deformed it couldn’t walk or hold up its head.
Veterinarians and shelter workers all agreed the dog should be euthanized.

Beautiful Mess

We absolutely love this shots forwarded to us!

The owner of the naughty pup grabs a camera instead of chasing the puppy away. The cakes may have gone to waste but these shots are priceless >_<

For adoption: Scamp, the dog with the soulful eyes

Scamp, this 6-year old Australian Cattle and Spitz mix, was brought to the Paws Mission adoption drive by KL Pooch Rescue on the day of the event itself - which meant he was surrounded by lots of unfamiliar people and dogs. Instead of being stressed, which wouldn't have been surprising at all, he was so extremely gentle and accommodating about everything.

A day in the life of a Paws Mission volunteer

As an animal lover who is unable to keep a dog due to space constraints in my small apartment as well as long working hours, I had been considering volunteering some spare time during my weekends to help out at an animal shelter.

I discovered Paws Mission by searching for a shelter not too far from where I live, and decided to pop by one weekend with a friend to see how we could help out.

It turned out there's no shortage of work to do for anyone who's willing to lend a hand!

Here's a peek at some of the things we did over a few hours on Saturday afternoon:

We were greeted by a HUGE teddy bear as we turned into the road where Paws Mission is located. Of course we had to take a picture!

~A lion, a tiger and a bear ~

~A real story that warms our heart ~
They make an unlikely trio, but Baloo the bear, Leo the lion and Shere Khan the tiger have forged an unusually strong bond.  They would be mortal enemies if they ever were to meet in the wild so it is stunning to see their unique and genuine friendship in these pictures.
Rescued eight years ago during a police drug raid in Atlanta, GA, the three friends were only cubs at the time at barely two months old.  They had been kept as status symbol pets by the drug barons.

So Long, Raju! (Adopted!)

We are happy to say that our handsome Raju has been adopted by a loving family! Mr. Khor from Subang read about our adoption drive in the newspapers and visited our shed with his parents. Once his parents set eyes on Raju, a strong connection and chemistry was formed. The rest as they say, is history.

So long Raju, may you and your family have many more happy and joyous days to come! Many thanks also to Mr. Khor and family for choosing to adopt!

Press Release (Mandarin) - Adoption Drive 18th September 2011

PRESS RELEASE

Abandoned pups Hero and Wan Wan need a home

Hero was a one-week-old puppy when he was abandoned in a box at a bus stop. Wan Wan, a female pup, was wrapped in a newspaper and thrown outside a wet market at just a few days old.

Independent dog rescue group Paws Mission has nursed Hero and Wan Wan to health and will be putting them up for adoption, along with 20 other puppies, this Sunday at the IOI Mall in Puchong. The adoption drive will be held at the 2nd floor corridor next to Digital World from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Coordinator Ho Lai Peng said kind Samaritans rescued Hero and Wan Wan about three months ago and requested help from Paws Mission. Hero is all black except for a streak of white on his chest, while Wan Wan is a beautiful golden brown with black streaks resembling a German Shepherd.

“We have been getting more and more cases of abandoned puppies. It is really shocking. Both of them haven’t opened their eyes and were so fragile. We thank our volunteers for helping to nurture them to good health,” Ho said.

“We appeal to the public to neuter their dogs to help curb the stray population and allay their sufferings on the street,” she added.

Ho said Hero and Wan Wan have been vaccinated, and are active and playful. Another 20 puppies, ranging from two to four months, will also be up for adoption on Sunday. Ho said those interested in dogs above a year old can make appointment to visit Paws Mission’s temporary shelter in Old Klang Road to check out some 100 adult dogs available there.

IOI Mall Adoption this Sunday

Hi all, please please do help spread this to your friends and families. Our shelter is extremely overcrowded and just 3 weeks ago we had more than 20 very sickly dogs dumped at us without any notice. There are just too many of them for us to handle at the moment and as most of us are volunteers that have full time job, we’re not able to give the furry frens the care, attention and love that they deserved.
If you or your friend/family members happened to be looking for a pet, please do consider adopting. Help us help them by giving them a chance of a loving home. Do drop by to play with them if you happen to be in IOI Mall too =)

Rescued Dog : Is this your dog?

This lovely gal was rescued from the pound when Ming Yuet and Uncle Wong were at the DBKL dog pound to rescue another of our naughty dog who were caught when wandering outside. The sight of the tiny, skinny and mangy gal broked Ming Yuet’s heart and she couldn’t leave the pound without taking her along. Ming Yuet affectionately call the lovely gal Jelly =). Jelly has since then been vaccinated. Jelly now has silky fur thanks to the mange jabs.

Jelly is estimated to be 10 years old. She have this smiley face that will surely brighten up your day. We’re not sure if Jelly is someone’s lost or abandoned pet. But please do contact us if this is your dog.

Updates on Caramel

Everyone must have been wondering how our cheerful Caramel is doing after her ordeal. Here are some pictures of Caramel.

Caramel is a very friendly girl. From the first picture, you can see that she is already making friends with the lady at Dr Goh's front door. She still recognised Dr Goh's Burmese assistant and remember the routine of the treatment. Dr Goh always gave her a treat after the bandage (she turned to Dr Goh for the treat, much to Dr Goh's amusement)! Dr Goh said she is doing fine and should be healing fully soon. Dr Goh noticed she has gained a lot of weight now. She eats twice a day and enjoys eating .

Rest in peace lil shihtzu

A 3 year old shihtzu was found by one of our volunteers. Its lower jaw was totally dislocated from the upper jaw. Dr Zamzi and Dr Lee suggested surgery to fix the problem. The surgery would cost rm2.5 to 3k and will take 5 to 6 hours time. We were trying to raise funds to support the little shihtzu's medical fee n surgery however, the shihtzu was not able to make it through the surgery. For those who have cared for this poor shihtzu, we thank you profusely. Rest in peace, little one.

Joey and Elvin found homes and wonderful families

Few days ago, Eileen introduced Mr Ramanathen, a retiree who came to the shelter to adopt Joey, his wife fell in love with Joey at first sight and refused to look further.
Mr. Rama must be very happy with our dogs, so he recommended his son , Mr Siva to come and view our dogs also. Mr Siva, his lovely wife and 2 sons picked Alvin because he was so big and so handsome . Meng Yuet would miss Alvin very much because she has been taking care of him for so long, it was hard to say goodbye.

Mr Rama joked that he has started to recommend people to adopt our dogs and Mrs Lai promised to give him some commission if he keeps bringing people back. He laughed!
Well, at least Mr. Rama and his family has adopted 2 big dogs from us!

Happy adoptions like this is what keeps us going. Rehoming dogs at our shelter is a never ending job. But to see them with their new families, it really is a very happy sight.
