Our Last Week of January 2010

Another tiring day ended our week/month. As it was a holiday for some of us today, glad that we have more time to do what needs to be done. We had some happy moments as well as a disturbing scene yesterday which left us very unhappy.

Fan managed to assist an elderly lady to rehome her pups! 3 together! Isnt it great? Though 1 may be separated from the other 2 but they are still adopted by the same family.

Whilst Fan was rehoming these 3 pups, Sam and April was attending to Sai Ee in the fosterer’s house. As Sai E’s puppies have all found a loving home each, she is currently nursing a new batch puppies and she dont seem to be able to get along with one of them, Amber aka Fei Mui. We believe Fei Mui does help her from thinking of her own puppies by annoying her most of the time.

On their way back to the shed, they saw a dog who looks like Wolfy with 3 little puppies.Oh dear! It was a horrible sight...1 puppy was dead. Apparently part of the dead puppy was eaten up!!!! They were scrawny looking. It is really a scaring sight which left them sleepless that night. (Want to see pic??)

Oh my God! What had happened?? They decided to take the puppies away without much thought of the consequences as to what will happen next. GET THEM OUT THERE was what came to their mind. Luckily Eileen after assisting Fan rehoming the 3pups came to their rescue.

She found a fosterer for them. Phew! Everything then started to fall into its place..piece by piece..Our next mission is to get them the necessary medical attention before finding a home for them....but along they way we know that it is going to be a bumpy ride as we already facing a lot of problems.....

Our hands are all tangled up with so many things still undone but we realised that this is what saving lives is all about. You have to be hands on to ensure that your objective will be achieved.Though we know we can't help all the helpless animals but we will try to give our best to whoever we are helping.

I wonder why nobody gives me a second look besides the Aunties here? I know I have a dirty looking colored hair and that is why they nicknamed me Lar Char Mau(means dirty cat literally). Other than that I think I look cute with my stumpy legs and good temperament. Having good temperament doesn’t mean I am not fierce. I can be nasty too, I know I can be a big bully if I want too especially when food is concerned and when some dogs invade my territory.

Last but not least I can be very affectionate and will love you unconditionally if you care to give me a proper home

Hi I have been named Barbie today.I am around 10wks old.

Luckily Aunty Kiew took pity on me when she saw me loitering in the market this morning.My previous owner is really irresponsible to dump me when he got fed-up with me. Hopefully someone will give me a good home soon. All I ask for is a proper place to call home,some food and clean water. Off course if I am showered with love my life would be complete and will not ask for anything more.

This is .Mr Chan Sung He used to stay in this area before the residents here are told to shift out.He is currently homeless. He has been shooed off from his current place .

He waited the whole afternoon to seek permission to stay in the temple. Well to us why should he be denied a space to stay if it is empty all the time?

What an irony, his request was rejected by he who worships the deities in the temple to be blessed in life , right in front of the temple!

When Kiew came feeding the 4 legged in the evening,he told Kiew his situation.Knowing that we will not mind, Kiew offered our space in the shed to him. Well at least our 4 legged will not be harassed when we are not around and they will also have an extra companion too and vice versa.

Our Only Setback in the Temple.

We just couldn’t keep quiet anymore, we cannot carry on letting others think that this is really a good and happy place for the 4 legged here. He is really testing our patience. All this while we have tolerated his nonsense but we feel that he is getting too much! BUT what can we do???

Our 4 legged friends are always at his mercy. If we pick a quarrel with him our 4 legged friends  would be the victims….haiz….sigh,sigh…. we just let him be. We cannot deny the fact that  we have to give him the credit for initiating in building this shed.

This would have been a good temporary sanctuary for the 4 legged  if its not for him now. Nobody actually harm the 4 legged here except for a little shooing  or when the Municipal sets their feet here when there is a complain from the residents at the apartment nearby ( I have to admit,hardly nowadays). In fact the workers around here enjoy their company and will occasionally  feed them. (that explains why they are getting obese  like Cici,Lei Lei and Frosty).

It all started after he forcefully took the lead in extending our shed which the doggies too do not fancy  and Little   Panda gone missing .We actually suspected that  he took it without our knowledge.

He has proven to be an irresponsible dog owner. He used to have 3 dogs and Kiew have to bath them weekly and even sometimes feed them!  Eventually the dogs have gone missing  what more to ask him to spay them??  Obviously he can’t keep pet as he stays in an apartment currently!

Time and again Mrs Lai had sat down to talk to him, listen to his grouse and try to understand him. We sympathized with him but somehow he do not  realize that he is letting out his frustration on these poor four legged. Everyone has allowed him to have his ways when he built our shed attached to the temple (though the committee members of the temple are not agreeable ) and proceed to build the  extension when we were not prepared as our budget was running low.

  Hah! Its the planks of needles! Yes he took the ef fort to make all these  to be put in places where the 4 legged are not suppose to be!

 

Now that we managed to find a kind donor who is willing to fence up the  area so that the doggies will not run all over the place , he is not happy as we did not ask him to construct it instead.

He  blocked the entrance of door to the  shed.  He broke the frame of the extension that was built by the new contractor the day before and today he cut off our electricity supply!!   Boy, I never knew there are such irrational people  living on earth. They just have nothing  else better to do than been destructive.

Its alright as we believe that what goes round will come around. In dog rescue we have come across all sort of people ill treating the helpless 4 legged. He has actually not harmed the 4 legged physically so we can still tolerate him.

Adventurous Cici... and the 3 new pups

Last Sunday, Kim and I decided to pay a visit to the pups that was born near the river side, it was located some where behind the apartment where Aunty Kiew stays. The passage that leads to the river side are full of bushes. Nicole and Ivy together with their friend visited the shed at the same time. So 5 of us decided to go there despite the fact that it was already dark. We can only make a move after Grace settled her rescued pup (Shyla) at the shed.

So, off we went to the so called "riverside" shed. We took a long walk there. It was quite a distance from the temple. After about 5 minutes of walk, we realised that Cici was following us from behind. Wow, looks like we have a little escort. Kim thought she just wants to walk with us for fun, little did we knew that she was serious in follwing us to the riverside. Well, let her escort us, but Kim told Cici sternly that she must follow us closely and cannot simply walk around.

These are the pups that was born near the river side. They fell in the drain few times and Aunty Kiew has to wake up in the midnight to rescue them from the river.

They really look like a big soft ball. So cute and so adorable. Aren't they?

Nicole and Ivy and their friend cannot resist the charm of this 3 pups and they instantly requested Aunty Kiew to let them bring back to the shed to nurse them. Kim called Aunty Kiew to get her permission. However, permission was not allowed because the mother is still nursing the pups. Aunty Kiew said let them stay there for another one more week. Pups will grow stronger is they are fed with their mama's milk.

This are the pictures of the enclosure where the pups stays. We do not think that it is ideal for the pups but this is the best Aunty Kiew can provide. The river is just next to the enclosure.

We hope the pups will grow bigger and stronger before the week comes, so that we will be able to bring them back to the shed.

Cici was very patient guarding the surrounding while waiting for us to inspect the pups. She is a real explorer! We let her lead the way back to the shed. She spotted a snake in the bushes along the way. She was kind of terrified and refused to walk. Nicole had to carry her to reach the main road. Haha, Cici, thank you for being so alert and save us from being bitten by the snake!!

3mth and vaccinated. She is rescued by Grace of Puchong. She has beautiful round eyes. We have yet to determine her temperament as she was just brought in temple last Saturday. She is the only one Grace is able to rescue out of 5 siblings.1 was knocked down by a car, 1 caught by the Municipal and 2 gone missing. We really hope that we are able to find her a good home.

Name : Coco

5mths,vaccinated and heartworm free. Coco is playful and loves her daily walk. She was infected with parvovirus earlier but has recovered fully now. A real tough cookie. Also very alert and makes a good watchdog. She is a rescued puppy of Sam too and currently waiting to go to a good home at the temple.

Mission ……Failed!!!

We spiked Tri Tri’s and Ah Wong’s food so that we can bring them to be spayed.Boy, after an hour they were still wide awake while we have to keep tab where they ran to as we do not want them to be knocked out in somewhere we can’ t get them

Ah Wong will run under the container to rest as it was quite hot outside. Irritated by us constantly disturbing her with a long stick she finally ran to hide by the river. Che che( her daughter) and even our caring ( caring ???? or is she just been nosey) Cici helped us to look for her ,but, nowhere to be found.

Che Che and Cici went looking for Ah Wong by the river. Cici making sure that we were behind her. We believed that she is afraid to be abandoned again.

Tri Tri as usual will hide under the car but when the workers of the car workshop came she ran to hide behind the tall bushes! So how are we going to get her?

Looks like we need to give them a stronger dosage of sleeping pill for it to be effective the next time round.

Our Disney is all grown up

Well its been a month now that Disney (renamed Lucky)and Duplo (renamed Wang-Wang) been adopted. Their new owner is a first time dog owner and coincidently he has the same surname as Mrs Lai (Disney’s fosterer since 4 days old)

Calvin’s update:

Don’t worry about Disney, he is as strong as a bull now…ha,ha…He is healthy and active…Playing around all day. He is a picky eater too. He will finish whatever he is fed except rice!!!!!

Calvin & Lucky We were sad to be informed that Wang Wang did not make it. He is the only one who passed on after adoption on Xmas Day.Calvin claimed that it was his worst Xmas present as he really adores him.

As our pups were not what the adopters were looking for  and some will only adopt after the Chinese Lunar Year,no dogs and pups were rehomed today.

Sam brought back Macy the mother stray that she  has been feeding and will be bringing  to be spayed. Kudos to Sam!

6 dirty pups were taken back home by Nicole,Ivy and friend, not to foster BUT to BATH ! Thanks again for this kind help as you are aware we have water shortage here.  The pups seems to know that they will be bathe today , they were extremely stinky.

Up To Something No Good Again????

Hi all,

I saw this new female adult dog outside my bf's since last weekend.

She looks kind of like Lois, small sized, hair-medium length, brown coat.

She is kinda timid. Been trying to feed her for the past 2 days secretly. (My bf's parents dont like the idea that i always pick up / feed stray dogs). Need to catch her asap as I suspect that she might be on heat. I saw 2 male dogs been trying to hump on her on-and-off for the past few days. She finally let me stroke her just now. I m planning to catch her this weekend. I should be able to handle her on my own.

Where should I keep her now? Send her for spaying 1st? Its better to prevent another litter than working hard to rehome new pups. I m kinda broke now = P

We really need more of this kind of energetic young ladies around. Oophs! hope the boyfriend’s mum don’t see this. Well she should be proud that his son is dating such a responsible and caring young lady.

A Midnight Cry for Help

We animal lovers are sometimes been classified as paranoia when we says we can hear the cry of animals in distress. To prove them wrong this is what happened last night.

Aunty Kiew stays on the 5th floor of an apartment besides a river where her stray dogs stay.(Where Sai E stays too). One of them has given birth to 3 puppies.While Aunty Kiews was asleep last night she was awaken by a puppy cry around 12.30am! Unable to ignore the cry, and with the company of her daughter she quickly ran down to investigate. The path to where the puppy cry came from was really eerie especially in the middle of the night. She forgot to bring a torchlight as she was too worried to remember anything other than saving the puppy. Thats Aunty Kiew, selfless in nature.

As she approached the riverside, she panicked as she heard that the cry was from the tall wild grasses down below the hut she built for the family! She quickly ran down to the side of the river and with her bare hands she tried to feel where the puppy was without thinking of any consequences .(Remember there are snakes around. One had even tried to attac k Sai E’s pups previously) Phew! After a frantic search she was relieved she managed to find him and put him back up in the hut.

She quickly put some planks and stones at the side to barricade the puppies from slipping down again.

This is the little one that slipped and rolled down the side of the river.Luckily it did not rain.

This is their great great grandmother,Ah Boy’s mother, who came to see what we were doing at the riverside. (Well,if you follow our blog you would know who Ah Boy is. Ah Boy is their great granduncle. Phew! Hope their colony will not multiple anymore with we ladies around. This is not a place to stay though they may be happy with the freedom around)

Aunty Kiew take the opportunity to clear the wild tall grasses behind the hut she built . (Where on earth did she get all those energy to do all these???. I am ashamed to admit I could only stand there to click her actions with my camera ).

We hope to bring back the 3 pups to the shed as soon as our other 3 little ones are adopted in the shed.
