Paws Mission holding adoption drive this weekend~STAR METRO FRIDAY 29 OCTOBER 2010

Handsome terrier cross DouDou and more than 40 cute puppies are up for adoption this weekend.
Independent dog rescue group, Paws Mission, will hold its monthly adoption drive tomorrow and on Sunday at 43, Lorong Nikmat 2, Happy Garden, Jalan Kuchai Lama in Kuala Lumpur from 9am to 6pm.

“DouDou was abandoned after his owner moved to a condominium. He is an adorable, healthy and active boy. He has been with us for three months now and we hope to find him a loving home,” said Ho Wai Sam, a coordinator for Paws Mission.
DouDou, five years old, is among some 80 dogs and pups, looking for homes at Paws Mission temporary shelter.

Apart from DouDou, there are several older dogs abandoned by their owners.
Ho said Bobo, a black short-legged daschund cross, and Docky, another short-legged mixed breed, were left on the streets by irresponsible owners. Both are healthy.
Paws Mission appeals to the public to give these dogs a home as their makeshift shelter faces the perennial problem of being overloaded with animals.

Ho said many people had approached the group for help to capture and rehome stray dogs and their pups but volunteers at Paws Mission had their hands full with the large number of animals at the shelter.
“Our resources are limited. Please work with us by temporarily helping to foster the dogs until we have space at the shelter or find a permanent home for them,” she said.
Paws Mission calls for foster homes especially for vulnerable young puppies that are at risk if they were placed at the shelter home. Food and kennels will be provided if necessary.

Set up in 2009, Paws Mission comprises volunteers dedicated to protect the welfare of homeless animals through education, health care, adoption and promotion of foster care.

Paws Mission also appeals for volunteers urgently to help in the daily care of these animals.

They also welcome donations in kind especially dry and canned dog food, cages and playpens, dog treats, shampoo, towels, disinfectants and newspapers.
