Love is Blind

Some of you might have watched the Japanese movie – Quill. The story is about a loyal guide dog, Quill and his master. You may find the synopsis here.

What if it’s the other way round?

During the Pet World Expo, we met Goldie, the  labrador. Goldie is only 4-month-old & she was born blind.

From Rena:

“I am arranging with Dr. Ed to send her for spaying by this week. In the meantime someone asked me to put her on super lutein and izumio which apparently will help to improve her eye sight. These 2 products are very expensive and it cost about RM410.00 for a month supply. My sponsor is willing to pay so we are trying it out on her. Apparently a shih tzu in kajang had the same problem and she regained her eye sight after on this for a month.

I dun think she can see tho one of her eyes is with cataract whilst the other eye seems hollow to me if you see it under the light. I feel sorry for her as she is afraid to move about even though I tried to put her on the leash and walk her around the car porch to familiarise her with her surroundings.”

If you would like to be the guide-Daddy/Mummy to this poor girl & love her come what may, please contact Rena 012—3051815.

Have You Met Docky?

We are sure some of you actually read Docky’s story during the adoption drive @ Pet World Expo.

The ribbons & stars & hearts for Docky on last Saturday.

Hello everyone,

I am Docky. I am 12-year old, male, single & availabe. I was abandoned by my owner when they shift to their new house.

P1040487

I have been waiting for my owner for the past two years. I could still recognise my owner’s car (Toyota Altis) with my blurred vision. I could still run like a horse to chase the Altis whenever I see one.

My rescuer, Vivien is actually my long-time neighbour. I knew her since she was in kindergarten & now she is gonna have her SPM exam this year. She has been feeding me & bath me occasionally since my owner abandoned me. Thank you Vivien! I love you…

Vivien asked us to rescue Docky as she notice Docky’s left ears was bleeding for days due to dog fight. She has been applying medication for him for the past few days.

We caged Docky at night and sent him off to the vet the next morning.

P1040562 P1040573 P1040559
Docky was so puzzled at the vet =(

Dr Zamzi said Docky smell like maggots. He quickly checked his left ear & found that his left ear was full of maggots. But luckily we do not need to amputate his ear. He also has zillions of ticks on his body.

Dr Zamzi quickly applied medication to kill all the maggots before removing those disgusting creatures.

Get Well Soon, Docky!

We visited Docky the next day. He was resting in the cage & eats very little.
According to the vet, he is very depressed & down now. =(( We are sure he misses his owner terribly!

P1040551
We look forward to see your happy face soon!

Thank you everyone from the bottom of Docky’s paws. Thank you for sponsoring his weekly food & medical expenses during the Pet World Expo. Docky is one of the dogs who collected the most ribbons, stars & hearts.

Fosterer Needed Urgently!

A few of our dogs just recovered from illness needs fosterers!

1. BahBah a.k.a. Starry

DSC01734DSC01731

DSC01738

Look at his huge bedsore on the left shoulder & how skinny he is! All he needs is someone willing to spend time & patience to clean his wound daily and give him so TLC (tender loving care).

Don’t let his big size fools you! He is extremely tame and gentle. Not to mention, very very handsome too.

2. Marisa a.k.a. Lydia

DSC01725Our pretty ambassador, Marisa has been very ill and weak due to tick fever. Get well soon, Marisa!  We really do not mind if you are as sakai as before. Yes, we are looking forward to your sakai-ness.  =)

She is also looking for a fosterer - a clean environment and loving caretaker.

3. Handsome Chap at the vet

We met this boy at the vet and he is about to be put to sleep. He has been abandoned and still could not find a loving home. Do you think he deserve to be put to sleep?

Please contact us if you are willing to provide foster home to any of these dogs. We are 101% sure that none of them deserve to be put to sleep and they are all very adorable dogs if you make rooms for them in your heart!

Get Well Soon, Corby!

The day Ellen brought Corby home….

DSC01661 DSC01662 DSC01663

Corby (a.k.a. Scrabby) enjoyed Ellen hold her like a small baby…

We received an email from Ellen on Sunday,

Dear all,

Hi! Corby is having high fever and we have sent her to vet today's afternoon. I touched her this morning and her temperature is rather high. We checked her in and vet told us that she has multiple problems. No. 1, she has worm eggs inside her. 2nd, fever with temp of 40+ degree. And 3rd, she has anemia. The vet has yet to find the cause of the fever. It could be due to the worms or fleas.

Sorry that I didn't notice her abnormality early last week. When she loss her appetite, we thought she was being choosy with food.

The vet concluded that she needed dripping, injected her with antibiotic, dewormed and blood transmission. If everything goes smoothly, we will be able to pick her up on Monday evening. Her current weight is 8.15kgs.
Will keep you in the loop when she is discharged. If you guys want to share some advice, all are welcome.

Thank you.

Ellen

We then received updates from Ellen today,

Dear all,

Thank you for the advice and concern. Corby is discharged at the borderline temperature, 39.5. Normal healthy dog temperature is between 38.5 to 39.5. She was very active when we took her home. Keep peeing and pooing. Then ate lots of food.

But soon the energy seem to be gone. After I took my bath, I found some blood drops on the floor. I checked on her but unable to locate where does the blood come from. The blood is watery, not thick.
Anyway, the vet has advised not to let her play actively until her own red blood cells is built. She will get lethargic anytime and could collapse as blood in her body is "borrowed".

Her diet requires full boiled eggs as she needs lots of protein that parasites (worms/ ticks) took from her.
Still need to monitor her progress and will watch out for blood drops in the morning.

Ellen

Bad Bug

Has a bad bug gotten hold of you,
Making you feel queasy?
You’re energy’s low, you’re indisposed,
Being sick’s not easy!

Just take this opportunity
To recuperate and rest,
And then when you return to us
You’ll be your very best!

Out of sight, never ever out of mind

This post is dedicated to Puchong & her 5 puppies….

PuchongWe love you, Puchong. You were such a great mama.

I still remember the first time I saw you at Puchong dog pound, lying down quietly & helplessly. There were so many dogs around you. I was so naive & commented to April, why are you so fat & lazy? Little did I know that you were actually heavily pregnant. The sight of you lying down there helplessly haunted me for that night.

The next day Mrs Lai told me she visited the pound & found that you actually delivered 5 pups, so did Subang. The pound caretaker did not separate you & your pups from others. They splashed water on you & your pups while washing the floor. We felt so bad for you.

When Mrs Lai told us she claimed all 12 of you (Puchong + 5 pups & Subang + 5 pups) out from the pound, we had somehow breathed a sigh of relief.

We are surprised that all 6 of you left us one-by-one. Maybe the God thinks this is the best for all of you, to reunion on the rainbow bridge. You & all your 5 angels are now running freely over the hills and meadows.

The cute 3-legged pup, sorry that we did not rename you. We renamed you Sandi, alright?

Mocha, you looked so wise at your age
